To this date, a confirmed 22 latest cars will be entering the Indonesian car market this year, with some already on the offer.

Carmall.com - As a consumer-oriented online automotive media, we strive to present reliable and accurate information to the visitors of Carmall.Com. Accordingly to the title, we herein provide these overview of the cars that will be entering our market this 2012. Hence, you will have a reference in your car-purchasing plans for the near future.

From the field data we collected, January to February 2012 saw several brand holders showcasing previews and launching their latest models. From American, Korean, European to Japanese producers. Among them, featured are both facelifts and new comers to complement their line-up.

For example is Honda through PT Honda Prospect Motor, who launched the New Honda Odyssey (facelift) on February 22nd. Then, there's also Mazda with the RX-8 Spirit R which claims as its latest, as well as last generation. As for American car producers, Ford Motor Indonesia introduced the All New Ford Ranger and the Fiesta S before the media last January.

Let's go into the list of cars to hit our market in 2012. Here it is:

European:

BMW Series 1
BMW Indonesia finally brings this premium hatchback coded Series 1 to Indonesia. And not just one, but two variants, the Sport Line and the Urban Line. The variants themselves are distinguishable only by their outer appearance. The Sport Line takes a more aggressive figure, while the Urban Line sports elegance.

This latest BMW 116i model uses a 1,600cc 4-cylinder engine with BMW's TwinPower turbo technology that, combined with the TWINScroll turbocharger, VALVETRONIC, Double-VANOS and High Presicion Injection features, allows the five-passenger hatchback a big torque at lower revs, while inside the cabin is the iDrive feature with a 6.5-inch monitor that is equipped with the BMW Radio Professional entertainment system that features USB and Bluetooth, as well as audio streaming and Bluetooth Office. Both variants are priced Rp.529 million (off-the road).




BMW 640 Coupe
According to the manufacturer, the BMW Series 6 Coupe (650i and 640i) features an exquisite and elegant design, and a spacious cabin. However, the two-door sedan that carries a Rp.1,888,000,000 price tag (650i Coupe M Sport), and Rp.1,418,000,000 (640i Coupe) also offers a sporty breath.

This sporty flavour is represented by its 4,400cc V8 engine that provides 407hp and a maximum torque of 500Nm, for the 650i Coupe, with BMW claiming this sedan's century sprint at 4.9 seconds. While the 640i relies on a 3,000cc engine that can produce 320hp and a maximum torque of 450Nm.
BMW 520i
Through a 1,997cc 4-cylinder inline twin power turbo engine, the BMW 520i can churn 184hp at 270Nm torque. Its transmission is a 8-speed steptronic automatic, while BMW claims a fuel economy of 15.6km/litre.


Measuring at 4.8 meters long and 1.4 meters wide, this luxury sedan is sizeable. Also, its fuel tank capacity is a whapping 70 litres. For the comfort aspect, the BMW 520i is already equipped with wishbone suspensions, front and rear. Other features such as airbags, traction control, Aux audio, USB port, electric seats, Bluetooth and parking sensors on both the front and rear bumpers also add to the driving comfort. This car's price reaches Rp.798 million (off the road).
BMW 528i Executive
On the exterior, the BMW 527i Executive is not much different from the other 5 Series. However, the 528i Executive with its 1,997cc engine is provided with 245hp at 350Nm, thanks to the application of four twin power turbos to boost its output.

Dimension-wise, its 4.8-meter length and 1.8-meter width are also quite similar. The BMW 528i however, sports a more complete collection of features. From airbags, traction control, aux audio, USB port, electric seats, Bluetooth, AC for rear passengers, sunroof, dual-zone AC, parking sensors, to electric parking breaks. If you are interested in acquiring it, BMW Indonesia is selling it at Rp.978 million (off the road).
X1 sDrive18i Business
The compact SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) BMW X1 has a new variant in 2012, namely the X1 sDrive18i Business. This car features a 150hp 1,995cc 4-cylinder petrol engine that is already equipped with Valvetronic and Double VANOS. The engine has a maximum torque of 200Nm at 3,600rpm and BMW claims a standstill to 100km/h acceleration of 10.4 seconds.

The X1 sDrive18i Business has peak speed of 200km/h and an average fuel economy of 11.9km per 1 litre. Several new features are also fitted in this entry model BMW, such as the Sensatec interior set, silver satin colour coating, Radio Professional audio system, and bluetooth interface. BMW provides the X1 sDrive18i Business with a Rp.486 million price tag (off the road).

Mercedes-BenzC 63 AMG Coupe

The C 63 AMG Coupe's presence further completes the C-Class AMG's previous line-up brought in by Mercy Indonesia, which consisted of the sedan and the estate version. Mercy plants a 6.3-litre AMG V8 engine that can churn a maximum output of 457hp and a maximum torque of 600Nm. As for acceleration, Mercy claims a 4.5 seconds for this car's century sprint.

This two-door sedan that's equipped with the Race Start feature, which allows the driver to explore this vehicle's acceleration prowess, is on the offer by Mercy Indonesia with a Rp.1.799 billion price tag (off the road).
Mercedes-Benz SLS 63 AMG Roadster
The gullwing-door Mercy SLS 63 AMG apparently has a twin, the SLS 63 AMG Roadster. The most distinct difference between the two is the Roadster's application of a retractable roof. Even at going a maximum speed of 50km/h, the retractable roof is operable to open and close.

The combination of an aluminum frame and a front-mid 6.3-litre AMG V8 engine with dry sump lubrication can produce 571hp at 650Nm torque, while its AMG Drive Unit feature allows the driver to custom-set the suspensions, namely to "Comfort", "Sport", or "Sport Plus". Should you desire for this German sedan, setting aside Rp.4,399 billion of your funds is in order (off the road).
Audi Q3
Audi SUV fans will soon have more options to choose from, the Q3. Featuring smaller dimensions than its sibling, the Q3 comes 4,390mm long, 1,830mm width, and 1,600mm tall. As with the powertrain, namely a modest 2,000cc 4-cylinder inline turbo engine, although the maximum output is a respectable 211hp at 5,000-6,200rpm and its maximum torque is a good 300Nm at 1,800-4,900rpm. The engine is mated with a 7-speed automatic transmission, while the car is a four-wheel drive.

If you're interested in this SUV that sports automatic AC, electric seat with eight adjustable positions, a sunroof, and an audio system with 10 Bose speakers and a six-channel amplifier, have a Rp.750-800 million budget prepared, as the Q3's estimated price is in that range.

Peugeot 207 Sedan Sportium
The most visible distinction between the Peugeot 207 Sedan and the Sportium edition is the exterior. Bigger front and rear bumpers, as well as side skirts, make the car look more sporty, while the presence of the spoiler on the trunk provides its race car impression. On the interior, Peugeot's application of semi-leather upholsteries allows more comfortable seats for both the driver and passengers. On the powertrain, the Peugeot 207 Sedan Sportium features no changes.

MINI Cooper Countryman
The Countryman's presence in the MINI family is the link between the classic MINI and the SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle). "This model comes with a more spacious and functional interior," said Ramesh Divyanathan, President Director of BMW Group Indonesia at its launch. A more spacious cabin becomes the comfort appeal of the Countryman. Furthermore, the safety aspect is tested, proven by the 5 Stars at the Euro NCAP crash test.

The engine on the MINI Cooper Countryman is a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder that can generate 120hp. A 6-speed steptronic automatic transmission is also featured in the Countryman edition. Also, passenger comfort is supported by an array of features, from Radio MINI Boost CD to Bluetooth hands-free with USB interface. The MINI Cooper Countryman is priced at Rp.579 million (off the road).
MINI Cooper S Countryman
The Cooper S sports differences in the engine, namely the application of twin-scroll turbocharger, direct injection and fully variable valve management, to result in a 184hp output. If the Cooper variant can fit five, the Cooper S only holds four, as located right in the centre between the rear seats is the MINI Center Rail, which its integrated functions include as a storage compartment and a cup holder.

Other features in the MINI Cooper S Countryman include a high quality audio system from Harman Kardon Hi-Fi Soundsystem, the MINI Connected feature, which can connect the entertainment system with your Apple iPhone, and the Bluetooth hands-free with USB interface and voice control. The MINI Cooper is priced at Rp.659 million (off the road).
Korean:
Hyundai Grand Avega
The Grand Avega hatchback features the fluidic sculpture design concept through the convex and concave lines on its compact body. This design concept was developed by a European design team under the direction of Thomas Burkle, a former BMW designer. The dynamic design of the Grand Avega can be seen from the look of its front exterior with its wide front bumper and bonnet, to the lines on the sides of the car and even to the rear exterior. The hatchback gets even more impressive thanks to the design of the taillights, headlights and fog lamps, which features sharp corners.

This city car with a 1,400cc DOHC engine that is claimed to have a 108hp maximum output and 136Nm torque, for the 5-speed manual transmission variant, is priced at Rp.161.5 million. While the automatic, which features a 4-speed shift tronic, is at Ro.171.5 million.
Hyundai H1 Royale
This big family car from Hyundai that was just launched on February 27th is the latest variant and offers heightened luxury over its predecessor. The distinction with the standard H1 being that the two captain seats on the second row are now electronically-controlled and come with leg rests.

An electric sliding rear left door for passengers, leather-upholstered interior and some wood ornaments on the steering wheel and door trims, as well as an exciting entertainment system that includes a ceiling-suspended DVD monitor are among its features. For now, Hyundai Mobil Indonesia have only launched the 2,400cc 16-valve DOHC petrol engine with 4-speed automatic transmission variant, but will soon also make the diesel variant available. The Hyundai H1 Royale (petrol) is offered at around Rp.460 million.
KIA Rio
This car is the latest hatchback from PT Kia Mobil Indonesia and is the successor to the KIA Rio Pride. The All New Rio features a more contemporary design over its predecessor. The headlights are now bigger and applies curves that significantly sets it apart from the earlier version. The tail lights now adopts the style of German sedans, such as BMW, while the cabin exudes comfort for its occupants. Through the double-din head unit, passengers have a diverse media compatibility, from MP3, CD, Bluetooth, USB, to AUX IN.

In the engine department, the All New KIA Rio is fitted with a 1,400cc DOHC Gamma engine. Through the engine, this car features a maximum output of 107PS at 6,300rpm and a maximum torque of 13.8kg at 4,200rpm. The transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a triptronic automatic transmission. Another feature is the ECO Mode, which is claimed to be able to save fuel and produce low CO2 emissions, namely 125-167g/km. KIA Indonesia prices the car at Rp.159.9 million (M/T) and Rp.173.9 million (A/T).
Malaysian:
Proton Exora Star
Heating up the competition in Indonesia's MPV segment is PT Proton Edar Indonesia (PEI), by launching the New Proton Exora Star last January. PEI presents three Exora Star variants, the difference of which only being the standard accessories and equipments. However, all three carry the same engine, the 1,600cc Campro CPS engine (125hp and 150Nm). This car is fairly efficient, with a recorded fuel economy of 9.4 litres per 100km for inner city use.

The Proton Exora Star's features include a 2-DIN head unit (USB, Bluetooth, CD), door visors, side body mouldings, tint glass, and mark top variant. This variant has a price tag of Rp.154 million (M/T) and RP.165 million (A/T). There's also the Exora Star Executive. This variant gets additional features, which include, semi-leather seats, alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, rear garnish body colour, black B-pillars and C-pillars, outside mirror covers, fog lamps, and rear spoiler with high mount stop lamps. This variant is offered at Rp.168 million (M/T) and Rp.178 million (A/T). Next is the Exora Star Supreme, which features a 2-DIN head unit (USB, Bluetooth, roof-mounted DVD and GPS monitor), full leather seats, front parking camera, rear parking camera, rear garnish chrome, door handle chrome, body kits (front, side, rear), and rear spoiler with high mount stop lamp (HMSL). The Proton Exora Star Supreme is priced at Rp.188 million (M/T) and Rp.199 million (A/T).
Japanese:
Suzuki Ertiga
In 2012, Suzuki will be bringing in new cars to add to their line-up. Evoking curiousity among Indonesia's automotive enthusiasts, the Suzuki Ertiga has been dubbed a competitor to the XeniAvanza. PT. Suzuki Indomobil Sales themselves have released the price of the Ertiga. The GA, the lowest variant, is priced at Rp.143 million, the GL at Rp.153 million, and the highest variant, the GX is sold at Rp.165 million. These prices are only valid until April 21, 2012.

A seven-passenger, the Suzuki Ertiga takes its base from the Ritz, or the Splash in Indonesia, while its headlight design adopts that of the latest Swift. In terms of dimensions, the Ertiga is about 4.2 meters long. Its wheelbase is 2,740mm. For the powertrain, Suzuki plants a K Series (K14) engine with VVT (Variable-Valve Timing). With a 1.4-litre engine displacement capacity, the Ertiga sports a 95hp output.
Toyota All New Avanza
The All New Avanza features a new design for the bumper, grille, bonnet, headlamps, as well as side-view mirrors and its 14 or 15-inch rims. Refinements were also done to the tail lights and rear bumper.

The interior applies a new dashboard, a fresher instrument panel and the latest steering wheel model. The new Avanza is also equipped with tilt steering, steering audio switch and electronic power steering (EPS). The All New Avanza is offered in two engine choices, namely a 1,300cc and 1,500cc, and two transmission choices (manual or automatic), with its prices ranging from RP.144 million to Rp.180 million.
Toyota New Alphard
This big MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) from PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) is a facelift of its preceding version, with several significant changes made to its interior and exterior. Take for example, a front bumper with new bold lines, a chromed grille and the new design of the fog lamps. There's also the upgraded R17 rims for heightened elegance.

Entering its interior, this official version of the 2012 New Alphard features darker wooden panels, and the placing of sliding and reclining buttons on the front seats. The comfort level has also been enhanced with improved audio quality, courtesy of Focal Premium Speakers. The 10 speakers, as well as Berrylium tweeters are claimed to be able to produce and evenly-distribute crystal clear sound throughout the cabin.

Toyota New Alphard comes in three variants, the 2.4 litre X, G A/T and 3.5 V A/T, and four exclusive colour choices, namely Super White Pearl, Silver Metallic, Gold Pearl Crystal and Black Metallic. This latest Alphard's has its price ranging from Rp.655 million, Rp. 800 million to Rp. 1,034.5 million on the road for Jakarta.

Daihatsu All Xenia
The Xenia, this latest version being launched in mid-December 2011, has been around since 2004 and will still be PT Astra Daihatsu Motor's flagship for this year of the water dragon. The All New Xenia remains equipped with the two types of engine also featured on its predecessor, namely the 1,000cc (type D and M) and the 1,300cc (type X and R), and for the type R is offered in choices of manual or automatic transmission.

PT Astra Daihatsu Motor reveals that the All New Xenia sports bigger dimensions, particularly for its length (4,140mm) and width (1,660mm), which is 20mm and 30mm more, respectively, than its predecessor, resulting in a more spacious cabin on this favourite family car. This latest version also has five new colour choices, namely icy white, dark steel metallic, light blue metallic, dark grey metallic and classic silver metallic to add to the existing colour choices, namely sand gold metallic, royal red metallic and midnight black metallic.
Honda New Odyssey
This latest generation called the New Honda Odyssey opens PT Honda Prospect Motor's endeavour in 2012. Looking sportier, but still keeping the luxury aspect, its powertrain is a 2,400cc DOHC i-VTEC engine (180PS at 6,500rpm and 22.2Kgm at 4,500rpm) that's paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission.

This seven-passenger family car that is directly imported from Japan, besides being equipped with competent safety and security features, has also been designed with an anterior that minimizes the risk of severe injuries to pedestrians in accidents. The offering price for the New HOnda Odyssey is Rp.529 million.
Mazda RX8 Spirit R
PT. Mazda Motor Indonesia presents this last generation of the RX series to the Indonesian public.This sporty sedan that's renowned for its rotary engine features a different appearance than the standard RX-8. Its exterior looks more dynamic and chic. The Mazda RX-8 Spirit R is equipped with SRS airbags and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) among its safety features. PT MMI provides three colour choices, namely Aluminum Metallic, Sparkling Black Mica, and Crystal White Pearl Mica. In Indonesia, this four-passenger sedan carries a price tag of Rp.682 million.

American:
All New Ford Ranger
For the pick-up segment, PT Ford Motor Indonesia may be the only car producer who have held a preview, by presenting the 2012 All New Ford Ranger, brought in directly from its assembling facility in Thailand, to the Indonesian public.

For the Indonesian market, the All New Ford Ranger is offered in two variants, the 6-speed automatic-transmissioned Wildtrak and the 6-speed manual-transmissioned standard. Both features the latest 2,200cc 4-cylinder DuraTORQ turbo diesel engine, which can churn 110Kw at 3,700rpm and a maximum torque of 375Nm at 1,500-2,500rpm. Furthermore, both the manual and automatic also offer 4x4 or 4x2 choices to provide comfort even on rough terrains. Unfortunately, PT FMI maintains an off-the-record status for this double-cab's price tag.
Ford Fiesta S Sedan
In the same opportunity, that January 17th media gathering, FMI also introduced the Ford Fiest S sedan. This sedan version of the hatchback that has earlier entered the Indonesian market is only distinguishable by the added trunk, while both sports a similar engine, a 1,600cc 4-cylinder. The Fiest S sedan is FMI's designated model for the compact sedan segment, to compete with the likes of the Toyota Vios or the Mazda 2 Sedan.
