A 100 billion investment and the latest models brought in by BMW Indonesia to strengthen their market presence.

Carmall.com - The rapid growth of Indonesia's automotive world is the main reason for BMW to make an effort to strengten their position in the national premium cars segment. One significant decision for that purpose was BMW's massive investment on BMW Indonesia, the result of which is the achievement of the initial target by the closing months of 2011.

The Rp. 100 billion fund was given to BMW Indonesia for the development of its production facilities and the improvement of its marketing facilities in order to weave a better relationship with their consumers. Some time ago, BMW also renovated one of its showroom, the Tunas Sahardjo showroom, to meet BMW's global standard.

The PT. Tunas Sahardjo BMW authorised dealer now has 12 repair stalls that are equipped with Wheel Alignment Steering and Electrical Diagnostic Room, has a display space for 7-8 units, and a comfortable consumer area.

The development of its production line is also BMW Indonesia's main focus. After making the BMW 3-Series and X-1 locally assembled, BMW's brand holder in Indonesia is also planning to increase its production capacity at PT. Gaya Motor by locally-assembling one of its best-selling models in Indonesia, namely the BMW 5-Series.

It's in 2011 also that BMW proudly introduced several of their latest products, such as the 1-Series, the CKD version of the 5-Series, and finally the latest BMW 6-Series Coupes, the 650i and 640i, which were on display at the Studio XXI, Epicentrum, South Jakarta on Tuesday (22/12). According to them, the BMW 6-Series Coupe features an exquisite and elegant design, as well as a spacious cabin.

However, underneath that seamingly elegant design hides the fierceness of a sports car. The BMW 650i Coupe is equipped with a 4,400cc V8 engine that can churn 407hp and a maximum torque of 500Nm. The aggressive stance is further felt in accelerating 0-100km/h, which it can do in 4.9 seconds. Meanwhile, the BMW 640i has a 3,000cc engine capacity and can generate 320hp and a maximum torque of 450Nm.

Both variants are equipped with features such as the TwinPower Turbo, Driving Dynamics Control, DSC Stability Control, and electronic shock absorbers to provide BMW 6-Series owners comfort. The BMW 650i Coupe M Sport is offered at Rp.1,888,000,000.-, while the BMW 640i carries a Rp.1.418,000,000.- price tag.

BMW action with Tom Cruise

At that same opportunity, the media were invited to directly experience the performance of several BMW products featured in the movie Mission Impossible 4 "Ghost Protocol". BMW became an exclusive partner of Paramount Pictures in the production of that Tom Cruise-starring thriller. Several BMW models, from the BMW 6-Series Convertible, X3, 1-Series to the BMW ConnectedDriver appeared in that movie.

But the most captivating scene is probably when Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) maneuvered through the dense city of Mumbai in a BMW i8 Concept. This hybrid concept car, which features a carbon-based passenger cell, plans to enter production in 2014.
