Carmall.com - Mazda CX-5 launching event which was held yesterday on Thursday, May 10^th could be considered as an exclusive event. Starting from its location which took place at a five stars hotel in three separated venues, entertainment by female disc jockey to a complete full-course lunch. This was intended by PT Mazda Motor Indonesia as an introduction of SKYACTIV technology which is the latest and different than any other SUVs have.

Mazda CX-5 is an outcome from the development from all of the related team (mechanic, designer and many more) of Mazda's representatives from many countries. This global product has adopted the SKYACTIV technology for its exterior, interior, including engine and chassis.

So what does the SKYACTIV technology does to those respective elements?

As a result from the impact of using SKYACTIV technology enable the engine to achieve the highest compression among cars in common by the a 13:1 ratio, 15% more fuel efficient than the typical 2.000 cc port fuel injection engine and only produce 15% of CO2 gas emission, aside from that the engine's weight also becomes lighter than the conventional one.

The 5-seater SUV which applies the KODO (spirit movement or impression of a running animal) design has SKYACTIV-Drive installed in its transmission. Besides that, this technology enables the car to slow down smoothly when braking thanks to the use of automatic blipping that synchronizes the engine's speed with the shaft gear ratio.

Moving to number three in our list is the body structure design (SKYACTIV-Body), Mazda CX-5 has a lightweight yet sturdy body. In other words, with the technologies being used to design this car so it can shave its body weight by 8% thus granting it more efficient fuel consumption.

Not only that, all of the frame components has been tested to minimize hard impact from the front, side and back. Certifications from the North America, Europe, China and Japan NCAP have been granted to the CX-5 for its world's best safety features. "Mazda CX-5 earned the highest safety point in 2012 in IIHS (Insurance Institute Highway Safety) America crash test", said Masahiro Moro, Executive Officer for Global Sales and Marketing Mazda Motor Corporation who also came to the launching event yesterday.

Last one, the SKYACTIV also been applied to its chassis. The structure has been claimed to be lighter and reduce the default weight by 14%. With a refined rear trailing arm supporter, the stability will be maintained even while speeding. Furthermore, Mazda CX-5 is being offered in two variants complete with 6 airbags (front, side and curtain), Dynamic Stability Control System and Traction Control, Emergency Stop Signal system, Hill Launch Assist System and Tire Pressure Monitoring System as a completion on its safety standards.

Spacious interior inside the CX-5 was amplified through the seating arrangement of 40:20:40 with foldable separated seats. Other standard feature covers the audio, integrated audio control in the steering wheel, 5.8" TFT Colour touch screen camera which helps when parking in narrow space. In the door panel there is also a cup holder enough to contain one litre bottle. Unfortunately however, electric sunroof and leather covered seats only available for the premium type (Touring).
