Carmall.com - Ferrari is already notorious for the brand of very expensive cars. But this Ferrari can even make a Ferrari collector suffers from headache for its unreasonably hefty price. The car is Ferrari Testa Rossa prototype.

Ferrari built the car in 1956 to compete in the Le Mans 24 hours endurance race in France. In 1958, the car was severely damaged after involved in a crash in the Le Mans circuit.

But the curse was not over yet. While waiting for repair in a garage, the Ferrari was burnt by a big fire engulfing the garage.

Ferrari, however, was determined to restore the car because of its historic value, being the first Ferrari competing in the Le Mans. Ferrari took more than ten years to professionally restore the car into its best condition.

Earlier this month, the car was auctioned in California, US. Ferrari said, the car was sold for US$ 16.39 million (roughly Rp 140.17 billion) to an unidentified buyer.

The car, however, is not the most expensive car in the world. Last year a 1936 Bugatti Type 57SC was sold for around £ 24 million (roughly Rp 338.09 billion) in an auction. (ahmad fauzi)
