Carmall.com - The growing demand for diesel engines in India has led to Fiat supplying their engines to Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.. The similarities between the engines used by Suzuki and Fiat is the base for Fiat's decision to supply the engines to Suzuki India.

Suzuki uses a same capacity engine as the engine being produced by Fiat that is supplied to General Motors in Europe, namely the 1.3-litre Multi Jet engine that can produce 75hp. Fiat uses this engine on the 500, Panda and Punto models. It's estimated that the number of engines to be annually supplied may reach 100,000.

However, this news rings a bell of the September incident in which Volkswagen Group accuses Suzuki of breaching the agreement they have made by buying engines from Fiat. Suzuki of course denies the accusation. Two months later, in November to be precise, Volkswagen was advised to release their stakes. But to this day, Volkswagen apparently has no intention of doing so.
