Carmall.com - Production of the New Mondeo, which has been dubbed as Ford Motor Co's new weapon for gaining an increased market share, has reportedly been postponed.

As reported by automotive news europe, mass production of the Ford New Mondeo has been postponed for three months from its planned start, April 6 to July 2013.

The sedan will be manufactured at Ford's factory in Genk, Belgium, to constitute 16% of all products by the factory.

Regarding this new development, Arnaud Henckaerts, spokesperson of Ford Belgium explained that the postponement is due to the replanning of the vehicle's specifications in connection to its homologation process. "However, details of it is for our's only, and can not be disclosed," said Henckaerts.

Henckaerts also added that the delay is barely a significant issue. "This is common for us. Only a matter of determining the date," he concluded. "We are currently in the finalisation process of determining whether the S-max and the Galaxy will also be manufactured along with the New Mondeo at our Genk factory."

The New Mondeo is planned for launch in the European market sometime in May-June 2013 and will be displayed at the Paris Motor Show this September.
