Carmall.com - PT. Mercedes-Benz Indonesia kick-off the 2012 by showcasing two sports car, namely the SLS 63 AMG Roadster and C 63 AMG Coupe. Both cars were built by Mercedes-AMG sports car division and introduced in Tuesday (6/2) at the Grand Ballroom, Hyatt hotel, Jakarta. Aside from introducing two of their latest products in Indonesia, Mercy Indonesia also announced their 2011 sales figures and what they hoped to be in 2012.

From their total sales of 890.569 units in 2011, Mercy able to record 5.331 units sold. This figure had experienced a 16% increase if compared to the figures in 2010 (4.595 units). Apparently though, highest growth did not come from their passenger car sales but from their industrial line (van, truck and bus). Mercy recorded a 38% increase in their industrial line sales from last year.

After the success in 2011, Mercy Indonesia will seek to continue this positive trend by selling new models in 2012. Not only the two models that have been referred to above, Mercy Indonesia had made sure to bring four new models to Indonesia. The models are as follow SL-Class sport car, SLK 55 AMG, premium SUV M-Class as well as the attention grabber Premium B-Class MPV which enlivens the automotive markets of Indonesia.

First off, let's get acquainted with two sport cars that have been launched at the beginning of this year:

C 63 AMG Coupe

The presence of the C 63 AMG Coupe completes the AMG C-Class line up that had previously been carried by Mercy Indonesia, which is the Sedan and Estate version. Speaking of AMG products, certainly the first thing to note is the power of the car. For the C 63 AMG Coupe, Mercy embedding AMG 6.3 liter V8 engine that produces maximum power up to 457 hp with a torque of 600 Nm.

Acceleration wise, Mercy claimed this car only needs 4.5 seconds to dart from 0-100 km/h. As for the maximum speed it was able to reach 250 km/hour under electronic limitation. To accelerate and reach the maximum speed, Mercy has pinned a 7-speed AMG Speedshift MCT transmission.All technologies that present on the C 63 AMG Coupe are a fusion of technology from C 63 AMG Sedan and Estate which had been introduced previously. Even the C 63 AMG Coupe already has the Race Start feature that allows the driver to explore its toughness while accelerating. In addition to the engine power and smart transmission, Mercy presents an AMG Sport suspension and a high performance brake system.

This vehicle has three separate connections on its front suspension, powerful rear multi-link suspension as well as a wide wheel foothold. Not only that, by using a more rigid rear end axle, setting a negative slope angle of all wheels, at the same time the use of localized anti roll-bars allows the driver to control the C 63 AMG Coupe comfortably although in a state of a hurry.

From the exterior, the wide front fender bears an inscription of "6.3 AMG" which is a signature of its glorious history. Not to forget the light alloy wheel with five cross which has been wrapped with high gloss titanium grey to completes its appearance.

Upon entering the cabin, the instrument panel on the screen integrated dashboard is very much to the CLS 63 AMG. Glossy trim elements as well as the black lacquer piano motive of the dashboard panel instrument and doors leave an elegant impression. Mercy Indonesia retails the C 63 AMG Coupe at USD $ 1,799 billion (off the road).

SLS 63 AMG Roadster

Do you still remember the appearance of Mercy SLS 63 AMG with gullwing doors on Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2010 then? The car which became a safety car in Formula One (F1) turned out to have a twin brother, the SLS 63 AMG Roadster. The most visible difference in SLS 63 AMG Roadster is its convertible roof.

The combination of aluminum frame and front-mid AMG 6.3 liter V8 engine with dry sump lubrication is able to generate power of 571 hp at 650 Nm of torque. The 63 AMG SLS Roadster roof can be opened and closed in just only 11 seconds. Even when you bring the car to a maximum speed of 50 km/h, the roof still operates very well, opening or closing.

The AMG Drive Unit feature allows the SLS 63 AMG Roadster driver to personally set the desired suspense may it be the "Comfort", "Sport", or "Sport Plus". The interior design concept specially designed by Mercy to achieve the atmosphere of an aircraft such as the air vents setting with criss-cross-shaped nozzle that resembles a jet engine.

As an option, Mercy presents an Airscarf feature that can act like a scarf that warms the neck and head of the passenger. This feature works with integrated bench "sport seat AMG" which circulates warm air from the vents on the headrests.
