"The 2012 CCTC racing season uses manual transmission, thus the racing experience will be more profound. Especially as this year's competition between racers will be more fierce." (Fitra Eri, Champion of 2010-2011 CCTC)
Carmall.com - Within the third series of the 2012 Indonesia Series of Motorsport (ISOM) held at the Sentul Circuit on Sunday (15/7) is another exciting racing agenda, the "C-Coupe Touring Car Championship" (CCTC).
Different from any other racing activities, which has a community atmosphere to them, the CCTC is a racing event that is held by a brand holder (Agen Pemegang Merek/APM), PT Mercedes-Benz Indonesia (MBI). "For the 2012-2013 season, the championship will be divided into six series, where four of them will be held in 2002 and the other two in 2013," explained Dr. Claus Weidner, President Director of PT MBI, in his statement to the press.
Weidner also added that the CCTC is a form of Mercedes-Benz's commitment in developing racing sports in Indonesia, just like in many other countries.
"This year's C-Class Touring Championship will again prove that the high performance of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class is not only limited to the roads, but also in the racing circuit. Engine durability, steering accurracy and braking durability of the C-Class will be tested directly by Indonesia's best racers." Around 27 racers will take part in the 2011-2012 CCTC event in three classes, Master, Promotion and Novice (beginner). For the Master Class, renowned names from the national racing scene such as champion Fitra Eri, Chandra Halim, Rudi SL, Renaldi Hutasoit and female racer Rally Marina.
The racers will be using the latest Mercedes-Benz C180 CGI Coupe specially brought from Germany for the championship. In accordance to Group N
regulations, the specifications of engine components, transmission and axle of all participating cars remain unchanged. The C180 CGIs uses 1.8-litre engine that can generate up to 156hp."Different from the first season (2010-2011), where the transmission is automatic, all cars that participate in this year's race will be using a manual transmission, thus the racing sensation will be more profound. Plus, the competition between racers will be fiercer as well," reveals Fitra Eri, who won the first series of the 2011-2012.
"The challenge will not only come from Master-class racers, but the Promotional and Novice racers have also proved to be able to beat the race
time of Master-class racers," adds this racer from the Top 1-GT Radial-Inspire Racing Team racer. In the 12-lap race, Fitra Eri managed to finish the race in 23 minutes 07,606 seconds. In second place is Renaldi Hutasoit from the Master Mild Racing Team, who was able to finish the race in 23 minutes 16,731 seconds.
The third place holder came as a surprise with Antyo Widianto from Promotion succeeded in winning the last podium position after a tight battle with Renaldi Hutasoit, before eventually having to yield to his senior's determination.
The 2012-2013 CCTC is sponsored by tyre manufacturer GT Radial, Top 1 car lubricants, BBS rims and INK helmets. The total prize up for grabs is Rp 70 million and a trophy in each series.
