i-MiEV's participation in this racing event is the first evolution done by Mitsubishi towards their electric vehicle.
Carmall.com - Mitsubishi will participate in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb 2012 in Colorado, July 3rd by entering their electric vehicle i-MiEV. Two units of i-MiEV will compete in the Electric Class. This event will be a pivotal moment for Mitsubishi to show their electric vehicle's evolution, the iMiEV is claimed to be able to run so fast because of its three electric motors (one in the front and two in the back).
Total power output that can be churned out from this car reaches 321hp and channelled through the four-wheel drive system.
Mitsubishi i-MiEV racing version also decorated itself by big body kit and a tail wing. Hisroshi Masuoka (former racer of Paris Dakar Rally) is reported to be Mitsubishi's main choice to drive i-MiEV in that hilly mountain race event.
