One of its prime features is Mitsubishi's third generation CVT transmission, which combines massive power output and good fuel efficiency.
Carmall.com - Taking place at the Pacific Place - Jakarta on Tuesday (10/7), PT. Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors (KTB) as the distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles introduced its latest SUV (sport utility vehicle) variant, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, with a tagline "The Legend Meets Urban Soul".
This new SUV from Mitsubishi's arrival in Indonesia also holds a special note, as Indonesia is the first country other than Japan to produce the Outlander Sport."This launch of the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport signifies KTB's commitment to develop passenger cars in the Indonesian market. We consider that the Outlander Sport should satisfy the consumers here, particularly those who are looking for a vehicle with the Mitsubishi DNA, which has been renowned for its reliability and sedan-like comfort," explained Noboru Tsuji, President Director of Mitsubishi Motors Indonesia (MMI).
There are three Mitsubishi Outlander Sport variants on the offer, namely the GLX (lowest variant) offered at Rp.289 million, the GLS at Rp.306 million and the flagship PX at Rp.325 million (on-the-road prices for Jakarta).KTB's optimism for this new variant can be seen on the sales target they have set; 1,000 units per month or over 10,000 units a year. "So far we've received 1,500 orders. This data shows that the Outlander Sport is already getting a good response early in its arrival," revealed Ridwan Alamsyah, Marketing Director of KTB.
Besides relying on an aggressive exterior design, it is also supported by design touches and features that are claimed to be the foremost in its class. "Several illustrations of the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport's excellence include fighter nose front design and headlamps that are brighter and 35% wider on the PX variant," revealed Rifat Sungkar, a national rally racer, who was chosen to explain to the media the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport's excellence and product knowledge. As for the interior, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport (PX) comes with the benefit of a panoramic roof and LED lights on its sides that can be adjusted to three modes of light intensity (bright, medium and dim), as well as magnesium paddle shift behind the steering wheel for a more sporty driving feel.
The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is supported by a 2.0-litre 16-valve 4-cylinder inline MIVEC DOHC engine that can produce a maximum output of 150hp/6,000rpm and a maximum torque of 197Nm/4,200rpm. For the GLX, power is distributed to the front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission, while the GLS and PX come with a CVT (continously variable transmission) transmission."The CVT transmission on the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is the latest generation and our latest. It is supported by the programmable gearbox system, which can be adjusted through the transmission lever or the paddle shift," explained Mr. Gayu Uesugi, Executive Vice President of Mitsubishi Motor Corporation, who was present at the launch procession.
According to Rifat Sungkar, this transmission system has at least two advantages. First, gear transitions are friction-less for riding comfort. Secondly, the frictionless gear transitions also allow burdenless transitions, hence reducing fuel consumption. If you're interested in this latest SUV variant from Mitsubishi, the GLX and GLS offer four colour choices, namely White Pearl, Cool Silver Metallic, Black Mika and Titanium Gray Metallic, while the flagship PX comes with two extra colour choices, Kawasami Blue Metallic and Red Metallic.
Oh, our test drive team has also been given the opportunity to try the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport this Thursday (12/7). So, wait for our review!
