New Chevrolet Orlando deserves to compete with any immediate rivals already in our nation's car market. The sophisticated technology it features, as well as the unique looks it sports, are expected to appeal to Indonesian families.

Carmall.com - PT General Motors (GM) Indonesia this morning at around 11.30 AM officially launched the New Chevrolet Orlando. A 7-seater family car that comes with safety features such as the Electronic Stability Program, based on CarMall.Com's observation, stands unique to its rivals. Moreover, the Orlando also sports a fresher and more contemporary looks.

The New Chevrolet Orlando's exterior comes with its own style, significantly distinct from other cars in its segment, which mostly comes rather conservative. GMI claims that this passenger car combines the features of MPVs and crossovers, resulting in a compact body and medium ground clearance, neither particularly high nor low (270mm), which effectively support handling stability during manoeuvers. With dimensions measuring at (4,652mm (l) x 1,836mm (w) x 1,633mm (h)), the manufacturer classifies the Orlando as a mid-size MPV.

"We devised a new segment, this mid-size MPV not only provides benefits for active modern families, but also offers something fresh in the Indonesian market," said Marcos Purty, President Director of GM Indonesia, while denoting that the name Orlando was taken from a popular tourist destination in Florida.

Peeking inside the interior of this MPV that first appeared as a concept in the 2008 Paris Motor Show, the Orlando features Chevrolet's unique dual cockpit design with a tall central dashboard. As a driver, reaching for the buttons, which are centred in the middle, is easy for both the driver and front passenger. The audio and AC are also easy to comprehend and operate.

One added value for the New Orlando is a secret compartment located behind the audio buttons, which can be used to store your wallet and cellular phone. Well, this MPV which only has one variant (LT), offers quite an abundance of storage space, such as in the door trims, the glove box, and in the centre of the dashboard. Its luggage capacity can also be boosted to 1,594 litres, just by folding the last two seat rows.

The car is retailed at Rp.324 million, and carries a 1,800cc 4-cylinder 16-valve in-line DOHC petrol engine with Multi Point Injection fuel system. The engine can produce 141hp at 6,200rpm and 176 Nm torque at 3,800 rpm, and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission (GM Tronic).

We deemed the price tag appropriate in respect to its dependable safety features, such as the 6 airbags, electronic stability control and traction controll, as well as disc brakes at the front and rear that applies ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) and EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution). And it doesn't stop there, there's also this feature that in our opinion is quite innovative, namely headlights that emit bright light against its surroundings with an adjustable automatic dimming time.

The New Chevrolet Orlando LT is on the offer with 8 colour choices; Olympic White, Switchblade Silver, Carbon Flash, Velvet Red Metallic, Gunsmoke Grey Metallic, Mineral Oil Blue Metallic, Day Dream Beige Metallic and Pewter Grey Metallic. Godspeed Orlando!
