Soldier Of Fortune

Toyota is known as an auto manufacturer that offers various choices of SUVs, including its Fortuner - the SUV that presents an all-terrain driving ability.

Carmall.com - When I draw an image of the Fortuner, what comes to my mind is the car's ability to 'battle' any terrain and weather conditions. Just like a military soldier doing his duty in the middle of an unforgiving jungle.

Whether it's raining or scorching hot, this soldier will overcoming obstacles provided by the terrain upfront, semi-asphalted road, puddle, muddy soil, hilly mountainside, or even dashing through shallow river.

High ground clearance and stout appearance hint all-terrain toughness

What relates this imagination of mine with the Fortuner is that Toyota has provided their medium-sized SUV with amenities so complete, on both its exterior and interior that they enable it to take up extreme terrains - especially for the petrol variant 2.7 V A/T, which is equipped with the four-wheel drive system. Thus you will have the confidence to push on the gas pedal wherever and whenever. That's how reliable this vehicle can be.

Meanwhile, for all of the diesel engine variants of Fortuner, including the G 2.500 cc, in which we tested here, lacks the four-wheel drive feature. So it can only depend on its rear-wheel drive system for its exploring performance, although making its way on top of steep asphalt roads remains to be a breeze.

Exterior

In Indonesia, Toyota Fortuner's journey begun in 2005. Back at that time, its arrival in the SUV segment did not face any fierce resistance from its competitors. Now it goes head to head with Mitsubishi Pajero, which is also a player in the seven-seater SUV segment.

In order to face such competition, the manufacturer feels that it's time for refreshment on its exterior to retain its customers. So that makes this Fortuner 2.5 G A/T Diesel 2012 as the second facelift product which was released in 2011.

New projector-type headlights and foglamps for optimum brightness at night and bad weather.

Several transformations covering the main headlamps design with projector type, stacked radiator grille (prior to this, it was a three lines model), and anew design has been applied to its taillights and rims.
