The sedan is expected to sport a VW engine and boasts muscular yet sporty look.

Carmall.com - The Czech carmaker, Skoda, is ready to wage a battle against the US carmaker, Ford, in the sedan market. At the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, Skoda presents a concept car named Mission L which has been developed to challenge the Ford Focus sedan.

The future sedan will fill the empty slot in between the Fabia and the Octavia in Skoda's products portfolio. Skoda will start to sell the car in Europe, Russia, China, and India by the end of this year and other countries by early next year.

"We have taken a very pure approach to this design study. The car has a strong, sporty look which conveys a beautiful simplicity and a youthful and contemporary appearance," says Skoda Board of Directors Member for Technological Development Eckhard Scholz.

Skoda, however, has not disclosed any detail about the car's engine. But Skoda is expected to adopt petrol and diesel Volkswagen (VW) engines for the car. Skoda believes the sedan will help it to accomplish a goal of increasing global annual sales to 1.5 million vehicles by 2018. "We are (also) going to present a new car approximately every six months over the next few years," adds Skoda Board Chairman Winfried Vahland. (sgcarmart)
