Carmall.com - Most car manufacturers these days have already produced electric cars, as it is environmentally friendly. Apparently, Mercedes-Benz's modification house, AMG, also didn't want to be left behind, thus the SLS E-Cell.

No official details have been released by the German car producer in terms of specifications. However, the chairman of AMG's board of management, Ola Kallenius, stated that this model offers an astounding performance despite the weight increase due to the use of lithium-ion batteries. Considering AMG's expertise in distributing torque onto each of the wheels using 4 electric motors, that said performance is highly possible.

Although at first glance it seemed like a massive change, the SLS E-Cell is nothing but an initial step taken by AMG to apply a more sophisticated technology called "Kinetic Energy Recovery System" in AMG's future cars. Unfortunately, Ola didn't specify which models will be equipped with this state-of-the-art technology.

Mercedes-Benz SLS E-Cell AMG is scheduled for order in mid-2012, while deliveries will commence in early 2013.
