Two Japanese carmakers, Nissan and Subaru, will soon be involved in a fierce battle. Envying Nissan's success with the Qashqai, Subaru prepares a contender named XV Crossover.

Carmall.com - Being built based on the Subaru Impreza compact car, XV Crossover has a higher ground clearance, close to 200 mm, in line with its function as an all-terrain vehicle. The crossover, however, retains Impreza's compact body, which measures 4,450 x 1,780 x 1,570 mm.

Subaru plans to sell the car in the European market with three options of boxer engines. The first is a 1,600 cc petrol engine which produces 114 bhp of power and 150 Nm of torque. Combined with a manual 5-speed gearbox, the car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 13.1 seconds and reach speed limit of 179 km/h.

The second option, meanwhile, is a 2,000 cc petrol engine which generates 150 bhp of power and 196 Nm of torque. Subaru claims, the car is able to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 10.5 seconds and break maximum speed of 187 km/h with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The last option is a 2,000 cc turbo diesel engine which burst 147 bhp of power and 350 Nm of torque. Supported by a 6-speed manual gearbox, the car offers a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 9,3 seconds and a top speed of 198 km/h. Subaru provides the three models with an all-wheel-drive system and Auto Start/Stop System. (sgcarmart)
