Carmall.com - Toyota claims the new Camry delivers more power but also boasts more fuel efficiency than the previous generations. The new Camry also offers higher level of luxury with higher quality materials for the interior.Outside, the new Camry looks more aggressive with sharper nose than the previous model. Compared to the older models, Toyota said, the new Camry can be manufactured with lower costs thanks to the improved efficiency in the production line.

For the US market, Toyota plans to offer three variants of the new Camry. The first variant is equipped a 2,500 cc four-cylinder that produces 178 bhp of power and 230 Nm of torque, while the second is a 3,500 cc V6 with 268bhp and 336Nm of torque. Toyota says, both of the petrol-powered new Camry are armed with a six-speed automatic transmission that with a sequential manual shift mode.

The latest variant is the Camry Hybrid. The car uses a revised version of Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive system and a new 2,500 cc four-cylinder Atkinson engine.The new engine replaces the existing 2,400 cc unit. Combined, the petrol and electric engines produces 200 bhp of power. In term of performance, the Camry Hybrid is right in between the 2,500 cc and the 3,500 cc petrol-powered Camry.

Toyota underlines that the new Camry Hybrid features optimised aerodynamics and reduced weight, which contribute to improved fuel economy. The hybrid sedan is also equipped with a new EV Drive mode, which allows the car to be driven in purely electric mode for up to 1km at speeds below 40km/h.

The Camry Hybrid looks slightly different from the petrol-powered Camry models via the blue-hued Toyota logos and the model-specific alloy wheels and lower grille, as well as exclusive trim and upholsteries, and a three-dial Optitron gauge panel.Although the new Camry has the same dimensions as the older model, Toyota notes the new Camry offers more spacious rear-knee room and rear middle seat legroom by repositioning of the accelerator pedal, front seats, and the rear-seat.

Compared to the previous model, the new Camry presents a more rigid body structure, revised front suspension and redesigned rear suspension, and new a electric power steering (EPS) control system. Toyota explains that these features give the new Camry greater straight-line stability and crisper steering response, while also enhancing overall ride comfort. (sgcarmart)
